Charlie Bear here with a cartoon:

cartoon 001

It’s from The Orange County Register’s cartoon section and it’s called “The Family Circus” by Bil Keane. In case it’s hard to read, Grandma’s caption says: “God created your face, YOU create the expression.”

Wiggles and woofs to you ALL,

Too funny! My grandmother never said that to me, but I wish I would’ve said it to my children. I found myself saying, “It’s not what you’re saying, it’s your tone of voice,” all the time to my children. Or “tone of voice” matters! But now that I’m a grandma, I have a new one I can say to my grandchildren! Love it!

      Taylor,
Yup, Mom Peep says the expressions we have on our face are like the cover of a book: it either entices you to look inside or it pushes you away! You go, Grandma Taylor. Rock on.

Boy, the expression on my mom’s face last night was something I never hope I see again, Charlie Bear. You see, she got up about 2:00am because Kenzie needed to go out. Being the caretaker of the place I went out with her to check things out. We hadn’t been out more than two minutes when Kenzie found a place she could wiggle out under the fence. I barked and barked at her not to do it, but she did anyway. I couldn’t let her go by herself, so I wiggled out after her to protect her in case she ran into trouble. By the time our mom got to the back door, we were gone. Mom said she called and called us and ran out in the back yard in her nightgown with a flashlight looking for us, but we weren’t there. Then she grabbed a jacket and slipped on her houseshoes and ran out the front door to see if we had gone that way. We heard her calling us, and finally Kenzie decided that it wasn’t that much fun to be out running down the street in the dark cold night, so she started running back to Mom and of course, I followed right along behind her….the expression on Mom’s face was so scared. She was almost crying. I don’t ever want to see that look on her face again. But once we were safely back in the house, she was so happy and relieved. She hugged us and told us to never scare her like that again. Then she went out in the dark in the middle of the night and fixed the place in the fence so we wouldn’t be tempted to run the streets again. I know I won’t because I don’t ever want to see that expression on my mom’s face again.

    Your pal,

      Jake,
Wow…what an adventure for all of you. Yup, I’ve also discovered there’s no place like home: it’s warm, soft, there’s food and toys and treats…what’s to run away from? But I know Kenzie was just sowing his wild oats to see if the grass really was greener on the other side. Nice to see he decided it wasn’t and you both returned home safely. What a scare for mom!

Thannks, CB, I can read my peep MoM’s face also, especially when she grabs the newspaper, I just sneak away to hide and hope she can’t see me then. Did you have a good Easter; Charlie Bear, find a lot of Easter Eggs? I did not find any, just slept away and not interested, did not see a Bunny to chase.

      Beaugie,
Are you invisible? I knew a dog once that could make himself blend into the furniture. That would be Rex because he was a caramel color, sort of like our couch. Me, I’m too noticeable! I had a great Easter. I saw only funny bunnies in the comics!

Thanks, Julie. Can’t you just read your hubby’s face? Or Clyde’s face? I know Mom knows when I’m an unhappy doggie!
