Charlie Bear here. Mom is home, Mom is home! Hip, hip, hooray, Mom is home!

MH2013 022

And she brought me a present! From my good friend Bethany and her dog Mystery came a sweet surprise: a multi-colored tennis ball, a squeaky toy shaped like a lamb chop, and some yummy dog treats (Mom lets me have one at a time). THANK YOU Bethany and Mystery! (That’s Mom with her Guideposts Writer Buddies.)

The bestest part of having Mom home is that I’m eating again.

Oh, sure, I ate a little when I was here with Dad Peep, and he took good care of me (and me of him), but when my routine is disrupted, I get out of sorts. Does that ever happen to you?

So I’m a happy doggie and my Mom said we sold some of our books at the conference, so she’s happy too. She had a GREAT time (she loves to teach and to encourage).

If you are happy YOUR Peep is home (even if she/he never left or went anywhere), give me a shout out!

      Penny,
Mom Peep says “thank you” and she loved meeting you, too. And thanks for the compliment. I must admit, I had a lot to do with the writing of CHARLIE BEAR…Mom could not have done it without me!

Charlie Bear, I don’t get much of a chance to get out of sorts for my peeps don’t hardly ever leave me alone much by myself, for one of them is here most all the time except for very short times, maybe to the appointments, grocery store or run errends, something like that but even then I jump, lick and wiggle & wag my tail until I get arouned to both and I also do this when only one of them goes away for awhile. I guess that is only showing we love them when they get back home. Take care of your peeps and my peeps and I WISH FOR ALL OF YOU A MOST HAPPY EASTER!! But don’t let the ‘EASTER BUNNY’ catch you CB.
Wiggles to you CB & your peeps.

      Beaugie,
I outsmarted the Easter Bunny. Bet you did too. I slept in late, didn’t get up to look for eggs, and just let him come and go. The only eggs I saw around the house were the white hard-boiled ones that Mom cracks and eats with her breakfast (of which she gives me a little of the yolk each day with my food). I love her for that.
Woofs to you and hope you all had a very blessed Easter.

Thanks for filling us in, Charlie Bear. Your mom peep looks soooo happy. Clyde says to tell you he hasn’t yet learned to be gentle with his toys. He gets so excited he chews them to smithereens. Tell your mom peep, I want to talk to her next week–that I can’t wait to hear all about her trip!

That Clyde…he’s a chewer, like Rex used to be. Rex always went for the eyes of the stuffed toys first, then the squeakie, then he ripped them apart. Ha! I’ll let Mom Peep know you want to chat. Can I be in her lap when you do?

Out of sorts? You say “out of sorts?” Let me tell you how out of sorts I was when my mom peep went out West last fall for 10 days. I peed on the carpets, which I hadn’t done since they adopted me and I was just marking my territory. Nope. I peed in different places all over the house because I couldn’t find Mom when Pops went to work and I panicked. When the man peep discovered wet spots, I had to spend all day long in my crate. He came home at lunch to let me out for a few minutes, but I was a nutcase with Mom gone. Skippy? He just slept the 10 days away. These peeps just don’t get it, do they. We love them to pieces and miss them SO much when they’re gone.

      Bailey,
I’m so sorry that you were out of sorts when you couldn’t find Mom Peep. Does it help if she calls on the phone and talks to you? I think you can buy one of those rolling treat balls that have a little voice recorder inside of them too…where your Mom can record her voice. Then, when you push the ball around with your nose, the treats fall out and her voice encourages you. Now, that sounds like fun! It won’t take the place of her actually being there, and that might not help you enough, but it could be a start.
That Skippy…sleeping through it all. Some dogs! Huh.
My wigges and woofs to you, Bailey,

How great that your mom peep is home and you have some new toys! Kenzie and I love squeeky toys, balls and especially our tug-o-war rope. Mom laughs and laughs when we play with it cause I am a little bigger than Kenzie and I can sling her around with it!

I am ALWAYS happy when our mom comes home, Charlie Bear. Even if she just leaves to go to work, (whatever that is!), Kenzie and I hear her car pull up and we start barking like crazy and our tails almost wag off our bodies. As soon as she comes in the door she loves on us and tells us how much she missed us all day and then she lets us out to go for a run in the yard while she fixes our dinner. We hate to see her leave in the morning, but we sure do love our routine when she gets home in the evening.

Even the old cat, Piper runs out to meet her when she comes in the door. I think our barking scares the two younger cats so they hide until she has their dinner ready. We don’t mean to scare them, but we are just so excited!

Be sure to give your mom peep some extra loving to make up for all she missed out on while she was gone!

    Your pal,
    Jake

      Jake,
That must be quite a sight to fling Kenzie around at the end of the rope! I would laugh too (and I know my Mom Peep surely would).
I’m like you. I give tons of wiggles and woofs to my Peeps when they come home from ANYWHERE! I missed them so much!
      Many waggles to you, Jake.
