Charlie Bear here with some cool news. Mom and Dad Peep’s California son is engaged!

Mom told me he proposed in a very romantic way to this lovely, adventuresome, Green Bay Packer-loving, perfect-for-him woman and then they did the most awesome thing–they called here to tell us. (Okay, I wasn’t on the phone, but my hearing is pretty darned good).

This is what their son said: “You’re going to have a new daughter-in-law!” And I saw Mom almost start crying. It brought her back to the phone call early last year when her Grandson called from Wisconsin and said, “You’re going to be a Great-Grandma!” Just like then, this call was filled with so much happiness, so much joy, so much “life!”

Circle of life

She snuggled with me later on Sunday night after they all went to dinner to celebrate (leaving me home, but that’s okay, I understand). Then she whispered in my ear that she felt like she’d come full circle in her grief. When Baby Hailey went to heaven it rocked her world, but even after so much sadness, God showed her that life moves on and even though there will be up and down days, there is hope. And happiness? That’s just around the corner.

So now there’s all this talk and excitement about a wedding. Not sure when, but everyone is on like high energy, like me when I’m on high alert when I sense a possum in the backyard.

I say wake me when the date arrives and I’ll be sure to get a bath and a bow around my neck in honor of the bride and groom. Happy Engagement to the joyous couple!

Charlie Bear

      Beaugie and Mom Alice,
Yes, Mom’s tears are a little less sometimes, and then other times she cries bushels. But happiness is a good thing and it takes the edge off the grief. Thank you for writing and sharing our joy! And thanks for sending love to the couple.

      Julie,
Thanks so much for the continued prayers for healing. Mom Peep still has crying times (as to be expected) but she’s a bit happy now, too.
