Charlie Bear here.

Mom Peep up and walked out the door the other night, leaving me alone with Dad. Huh. Where in the heck was she going? She usually stays in, makes a salad and something else for the two of them, feeds me, gives me a treat in the garage while she rides her exercise bike, and all is well in my world.

Instead, the sky turned dark and the lights came on and still she wasn’t home. Where in the world had she gone?

I found out she went to dinner with two of her girlfriends, Merrie and Andrea. They went to Cheesecake Factory and had chicken with pasta and tall glasses of ice water. And they talked and talked and talked. Oh, and they laughed…loud and giggly and head-turning kind of laughing. I guess they had a great time together ’cause it was three hours later before she came home.

friends.two girlsSo what’s the point in all this?

Friendship.

Mom needs her lady friends. Oh, she needs me and Dad, but she needs women friends too.

Charlie Bear 1 (5)

Like me and Rex needed each other. P.S. I miss him, which is why I think it’s great that Mom Peep has friends and they do things together. It’s comforting, don’t you think? Like these guys:

friends. dog and cat

friends.kittens

So the next time you feel left out, think of it this way….it’s good for all of you. A Happy Mom Peep is wonderful around here. And me? I’m going to cuddle up to both Mom and Dad more often so they both know I’m their bestest friend.

How about you?

I LOVE this post, Charlie Bear. My girlfriends are so important to me! One of them is your mom peep. She’s a wonderful listener and friend. Wish you and Clyde could get to know each other.

I’m so grateful God made all sorts of friends–both the people and animal kind.

      Julie,
I wholeheartedly agree. We’re so grateful God made all sorts of friends — people and animal kind! And Mom Peep is ever so grateful for YOU!

Charlie Bear, I haven’t been on here for quite awhile because my mom peep and dad peeps have been pretty sick. I lost my brother Rowdy and mom peep felt so bad for me becuz I was SOOO LONELY that she rescued another little doggie from a puppy mill and she is a shih-Tzu and we call her Livvie! She was REAL sick when Mom peep got her. The puppy mill gave her to Mom peep cuz they were done using her and wanted to put her down but mom peep has been trying to shut puppy mills down and the peeps that ran that one tricked mom peeps and would not tell her where they were located but brought Livvie to her at another address! Livvie went to the Vet and got spayed and we found out she had heartworms too! She had ear and eye infections and skin infections and I even got some infections from her but not heartworms cuz my mom has always had me on HartGard since I was born and I am about to be 5 years old! Livvie is 10 years old! She has had a hard time learning to trust our family and mom said it was cuz she had been abused so bad and I have had to let go of always being the center of attention cuz mom has to show Livvie extra love! Livvie had NEVER been out of a cage in her life and her paws were messed up and she had surgery on them also and so she stays in mom’s bed almost ALL the time where it’s soft! She LOVES to watch TV and cuddles with me now and Mom too! We want her to feel special during her GOLDEN YEARS as mom calls it! Mom cannot afford all of Livvie’s medical bills but she says it is still worth it to give Livvie a little bit of time to know what LOVE feels like! I think Livvie KNOWS that our mom saved her life and now her bones don’t show anymore. The Vet had to shave off all of her hair and you could see her skeleton and at first when she would eat, she would eat SO FAST that she got sick! I think she must have not realized that mom was always going to feed her and she wouldn’t have to eat so fast anymore! We all are getting better, I hope! Dad peeps had heart surgery and mom peeps has lupus, diabetes and has had a heart attack and a stroke and taking care of me and Livvie helps Mom feel better, she says! I just wish mom wasn’t in so much pain! Mom cries from pain and that makes me sad and I always try to give her my paw to hold and she likes me to lay against her because she says I have a knack for finding just exactly where she hurts the most! Mom peeps would like to tell everyone to adopt a pet – and that even older pets make good friends! But she also wants to make sure that all people take their responsibilities seriously about owning a pet because we are part of the family, also! We have to have food and lots of love as well as Vet care and that it is wonderful to have a pet like me and Livvie, but be prepared for the things you cannot really prepare for just like when you have babies and children! Glad to be back online! Woofs and Wiggles, Oreo

      Oreo,
I’m sad you lost your brother Rowdy. He’s over the Rainbow Bridge with my buddy Rex now. Woofs to them.
Your Mom Peep is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G and she loves you and Livvie to pieces. Keep snuggling with her to make her feel as good as you can. We hurt when they hurt, huh?
      Many wiggles to you, Oreo,

      Beaugie,
Hmmm….I hadn’t thought about it. I had a big dog, Rex, a Golden Lab as a buddy for a while. He was cool. But maybe a little dog, smaller than me, to have as a friend? IDK I’m pretty content as my Mom Peep’s bestest friend, like you!
