You can be honest. I look like a garden gnome, right? Geesh….

Anyway, can you believe 2012 is almost here? I can’t. In some ways it seems like FOREVER that I’ve been living in my new home, and in some ways it seems like time has flown by. Does that ever happen to you? Feeling like that?

Mom Peep is kind of glad that 2011 is ending. Dad Peep is too. It was a tough year for them. They lost big dog Rex June 1st and then their last remaining cat, Bear, just a few weeks ago. He was an outdoor feral cat and he was almost 20 years old. Can you believe it? Now THAT’S a long time. They tried to domesticate him, but he had none of it so they fed him and cared for him in the backyard. He came for breakfast and dinner every day and at the end, he even brought friends with him: Pretty White Kitty and Smoosh Face.

I’m pretty excited for the year ahead. Mom has some cool things happening with her books and I’m even brought into the office once in a while to “work.” (I don’t do much — just climb up on Mom’s lap while she types.)

So are you happy or sad that 2011 is coming to a close? Share.  : )

I know I am a little late in responding, Charlie Bear, but it’s because we have been moving into a new house! It has a good sized back yard for me to run and play in and it has two more rooms for the cats and I to play in as well. The cats even have their own room! I still get to bunk with Mom, though, and I like that even better than a room of my own. My mom likes the new house because it is much closer to her work place and she won’t have to use nearly as much “gas” whatever that is. And we are closer to her son’s house, too. Piper and I were fine with the move, but the younger cats, Abby and Mikka were a little upset at first. Mom took a few extra days off work so she could be home with us while we adjusted and I think we are all doing fine now. I am looking forward to the new year in our new home. Oh, and did I mention there is a park just down the street? I’ve already been there once. It was great!

    Happy New Year, Charlie Bear

      Jake,

Happy new “digs” — and I mean that literally…you have a yard and you can dig! Just kidding. : ) Peeps don’t like it when we spray dirt and stuff everywhere!

I like the park too. Wish I could go there more often. In fact, I’m going to ask my Mom to take me today!

Woofs & wiggles to you in your new home!

I didn’t know about Bear…I’m so sorry, BJ. The end of an age…
I can’t wait for 2011 to be over and for new 2012 to emerge! With the loss of Mother, Heather’s move, a difficult Christmas without both of them and one of the kids with 105 fever & cold baths –a memorable Christmas but not a favorite one–, plus the flood that’s been 3 months repairing and still going…well, we’ll be glad to have a fresh start. But we are thankful for health and love and family and friends and know we are blessed–life just gets difficult sometimes!
Happy New Year, Charlie Bear and Mom & Dad Peep!

      Jean,

Yup, it’s been a difficult year for you. Thanks for the condolences for Mom about Bear the cat. I’m sorry you lost your Mother. That’s a tough one. Health and love and family — that’s a special trio that keeps us all getting up and over the hump each day, right?

Wiggles & woofs to you and Crosby-dog,

    Hi, Charlie Bear,
Happy New Year. Wish I could hug you. You look so adorable in that hat. Wish I had one too.
I’m looking forward to the new year because I have a new home that’s beyond my wildest dreams.
And Mom talks about Jesus coming. She says, “This could be the year,” so she’s really anxious about that. She’s always looking at the sky and smiling … and waiting for something great to happen.
In the meantime, I’ll just brighten my peeps’ days by playing a lot, eating a lot, and smiling a lot too.

      Bailey and Skippy,

I’d gladly give you that silly green hat. It had an elastic string underneath it to hold it onto my head. You can have that part too!

Playing a lot, sleeping a lot, and smiling a lot — that’s what I’m doing too!

Happy New Year to your house from my house,
      Charlie Bear

Charlie: I look forward to more posts from you and your peeps, but yes and no about new year. You never know how much time you have left with friends and family…..The work year was hard so maybe next year will be better, but I’ve been saying that since 2001 so I’ll be really lucky if 2012 is great!

      Susan,
Yup, a new year can bring all kinds of things. Let’s pray it is a really good year for work for everyone. My Mom and Dad Peep have been hoping for it for a long time too!
My Mom, probably like you too, knows all about having less time with loved ones. That’s a big part of her book that she wrote with me. I think she knows how precious each day is. I surely do.
Wigges & woofs into 2012 for you, Susan.
