TAYLOR’S TIPS for a more productive you…

Do you ever have a good habit going? You exercise three times a week. Or journal every morning with your prayer time. Or put away a specific number of dollars from every paycheck into savings. Or stick to a great eating plan to bolster your good health.

But then you stop. Abruptly or slowly, it doesn’t matter. And it doesn’t matter that we have excuses for stopping, which can run the gamut from no time, illness, aches and pains, lack of concentration, financial issues, family demands…you name it: it feels like the good habit we developed no longer means anything.

What happened? And what do you do when you’ve fallen away from a good habit and want it back?

Something happened to me in August. I had oodles of wonderful company (friends and family alike) but no time to write. The squeaky minutes that I had slipped in for writing had spun away. By the end of the month I had lost the drive and momentum.

I’d love to hear how you restart the engine. How you make the time to fit your good habit back into your life. How you power up again.

Share with me your way of getting back into your good habit and I’ll post a comment soon about whether I got back into mine.

Hugs and love, and blessings on your work. And THANKS for sharing!

Follow your dreams…

What’s Going On:

Were you there?

I meet the most INCREDIBLE writers at conferences. You are teachable, flexible, and determined to reach your goals and I applaud you. In July of 2017 I taught classes at The Montrose Christian Writers Conference in Pennsylvania and two of those writers have won a spot in the Guideposts Writers Workshop Contest. Kudos to Jeanette and Dee! They will be whisked off to Rye, NY next month for a week of training from the editors of the Guideposts family of magazines. It’s the win of a lifetime. It changed mine in 2004. Maybe it can change yours, too?

Thank you BJ for all your encouragement.
You really have such a big heart and a great sense of humor. It was bittersweet to hear about the winners for Guideposts ….Certainly so happy for the two that won that you know but I had entered once again and I’ve been waiting and hoping that I was still in the running .. I kept googling guideposts Writers workshop winners and could never find a list What would be your advice ? Should I go to writers workshop like the one that you mentioned ? Or just focus on my blog and bible and don’t worry about contestS?

      Hi Amber,

I’m so sorry you weren’t picked for the contest win this year. I submitted over and over again. It took me eight years to be chosen. Don’t give up!

My suggestion would be to go to writers conference as much as you can, and as many as you can afford and that fit into your life. I have always learned so much from the classes, the instructors, the editors and agents at one-on-one appointments. Take all of it and apply it to your writing. You will reach your goals if you never, ever give up. And if you are open and you learn the tips and tools of the trade.

Best wishes on all of your endeavors,
      B.J.
