Charlie Bear here.

I have two words for you to remember, and they start with the initials B K

Nope, not

burger king circle

Not the funny guy

burger king guy

with the “special orders don’t upset us” (is that their jingle?)…anyway, that’s not the B K I’m talkin’ about.

It’s this one:

be kind dog and cat and bird

That’s right. Be Kind. Mom Peep first heard this from her hairdresser. They were talking (as all clients and their hairdressers tend to do, right?), and going on and on, and the conversation came around to being kind to each other.

“You know,” the hairdresser said, “if we all thought of how much our words can hurt someone, or if we took a moment to think before we said something, maybe we’d discover that being kind could be just the thing needed at that moment.”

“I agree,” Mom Peep replied. “But I don’t always remember to do it.”

“Me, too,” the hairdresser said. “But I’m working on it.”

So there you have it.

be kind

Mom Peep has discovered that when she takes a moment to think before saying something to really close loved ones, and then she specifically says something KIND, it works wonders on how happy they both are. Or, if she can’t be nice, she says nothing at all.

Make sense? It does to me. (P.S. She does this with me almost automatically…so she often wonders why it is so hard with the humans she loves. Go figure. But she’s workin’ on it.)

Wiggles and woofs to you all,
Charlie Bear

CB & BJ; Had you thought that you almost got it in your initials? Think about it!! BJ is only 1 less character than BK, so she almost looped it, isn’t that neat? We need at my house to work a lot harder on that BK bit, especially me and my barking, unlike you I start first thing of a morning and only stop at bedtime, and at times I will wake in the middle of the night with my woof, woof, woof; they get mighty tired of it but they haven’t found a way to slow me down let alone stop it. Maybe if peep mom reads your letter to me it may help, reckon? Well be good to yourself & especially MoM & PoP Peeps…

      Beaugie,
That is super neat! BJ BK. Wow!
I try to do only the “huff-huff” thing instead of bark-bark. I don’t know where I learned it, but it’s a muffled sound instead of the shrill, ear-piercing bark that irritates humans. Hmm…I guess it’s not irritating to us, huh, Beaugie?
Woofs (little ones) and lots of wiggles to you,

I agree with Kay. B.J. – you are a shining example of kindness! I love this post. BK. So simple. I’m always telling my boys that a gentle answer turns away wrath. And you know what? It does! A little kindness works for all involved.
Thanks for being so very inpsiring. I love the pic of dog and kitty, too.

      Shawnelle,
Mom Peep tries really hard to BK. Sometimes she slips up and runs off at the mouth. It’s kind of like when I slip up and bark and bark at things I see out the window that aren’t even bothering me! Why do I do that? Mom Peep asks herself the same thing. But she’s workin’ on it (me 2).

Good reminder, Charlie. I think your Mom Peep is already awfully good at this. I’m learning from her.

      Kay,
Oh, no…Mom Peep says she learns the very MOST from you and emulates you whenever she can. She says thanks for all that you do to inspire and encourage others.

This is wonderful advice, Charlie. I’d never thought of putting BK to Be Kind, but I love it, and will remember to think twice before I speak.

      Julie,
I wish Mom Peep was taking me to the BK as in Burger King for a juicy, special orders don’t upset us, hamburger (with cheese)! But that’s okay, I’ll take the Be Kind instead.
      Woofs to you,
