Charlie Bear here.

I’m cool. I’m hip. I’m ready for a summer dip!

Turning the page into May is a big deal, don’t you think? Summer is almost here and with it maybe a dip or two in a swimming pool.

I love swimming. Well, it takes me a while to get used to the water, and it’s scary at first to not have anything under my feet, and the wetness bothers me a bit, but other than that I like it.

How about you? Are there things you like to do…once you get into them? Is it scary at first sometimes? Awkward feeling? But then when you plunge in do you enjoy it?

Mom Peep is always saying that verse about “Nothing ventured, nothing gained.” She can be a real daredevil, like jumping over barricades to get to a parade in New York City, or sending in her writing to be published by John Gray in one of his first books called “Mars and Venus in Love” (John Gray loved it and printed all three single-spaced pages that she submitted), or when she took me in despite my spinning and snapping.

Oh, yes. If we didn’t do things with an element of fearlessness, I tend to think we might not do anything at all. And that would be a pity ’cause there are so many wonderful things out there just waiting to happen to YOU!

LEAP with me. Let’s bring on summer in a big way this year.

Wiggles and woofs to you,
Charlie Bear

CB, We are not planning anything special for the summer and as we do not have a pool cannot swim around much. May take a couple of Beach trips and no I will not be going there for I would probably be really scared of that place. We will just try to keep cool and do little things around the town and home. Hope you guys can stay cool there..

Sooo true, C.B.! Lots of wisdom in this post. You’re absolutely right. If we stopped doing everything we were afraid of, well…..what small lives we’d have. Thanks!

So true. Lots of things are scary. It took me a long time to get over the fear of writing. Sharing my heart and soul with the possibility of never being read, shared, or published was a huge concern. The outcome, however, is up to God. I just had to be faithful and obey. God has been faithful with the rest.

      Marisa,
Mom Peep felt the same way at first about sharing her writing. You are doing GREAT! Keep up the good work.

    Charlie Bear,

You are so brave. I am afraid of swimming. You see, when I was a puppy, my first owner threw me into the river to try to teach me how to swim. I was terrified and almost drowned. I was rushed to the vet and he was able to pump my tummy and get all the river water out of me, but it caused a lot of other health problems for me. My Mom has my vet records from then and she knows I am afraid so she never tries to get me to swim. I don’t think my first owner was trying to be cruel, they just didn’t know any better, but I sure am glad I made it through that! Anyway, I think you are one brave pup for being able to take the plunge and swim like that. I hope you enjoy your summer and swimming in the pool. As for me, I’ll just lay by Mom’s chair and watch! Take care, Charlie Bear.

    Your pal,
    Jake

      Jake,
Young pup trauma can be hard to overcome. I feel for you. I bet you do lots of other things I don’t even think of.
Stay cool this summer, but keep your Mom Peep warm and happy!
