One day female peep had an announcement to make. She looked happy, so I wasn’t overly concerned, but you never knew with her.

FEMALE PEEP: “Today is the six-month point for Charlie Bear.”

MALE PEEP: “Really? It’s been six whole months?”

FEMALE PEEP: “Yup, time flies. I’d say he’s steadily progressed to a pretty good dog in the house.”

Pretty good? She didn’t give me much credit. I had very few spin cycles lately, didn’t guard my food or bones anymore after realizing they weren’t going anywhere, and very rarely did I let Rex the big dog get under my skin. I did follow him around a lot. The weird thing is, he taught me stuff. I figured since he’d been here so long there might be things I could learn, and I have.

MALE PEEP: “Charlie Bear. You made it to six months!”

I jumped into his lap and he petted me, like he always does. I licked his hand.

FEMALE PEEP: “He started out at as a headstrong, bullheaded, 16-pound rascal, didn’t he?”

MALE PEEP: “That’s for sure.”

I think I’d found my forever home here with Daddy, female peep, and big dog Rex. What I didn’t count on was how things could change.

Charlie Bear: Hope the loud fireworks didn’t scare you too much. I used to hate them, but now that my hearing is bad, I can sleep right through. My peep knows it, but she still cuddles me the entire time the rockets are going off. And that’s fine with me. Stick to your Daddy’s lap and all is well.

      Clue,
Thanks for asking about the fireworks. Glad they don’t bother you anymore, except I wish you could hear better! Me–I didn’t mind the single pop here and the loud pop there, but when the finale went off with all the explosive bangs nonstop, that got to me. I barked and barked, probably to make as loud of a noise as I could. Finally they were over. Whew, got through that holiday!

Well; Charlie i’m like you; what “Have” you done to get under their skin now? I thought you were improving, you haven’t ran away again, oh well maybe she’ll tell you what it is if anything, maybe just teasing a little; seems as if she likes to leave a few things hanging. Keep your chin up, and best to you.

      Beaugie,
Nope, didn’t run away again. Like they say out there in the world: been there, done that. I found out I like it better in this nice warm house with Dad and female peep.
Hope you have a great 4th of July. I might be cowering under my bed. Last time I heard fireworks in the street on New Years I didn’t like it.
