TAYLOR’S TIPS for a more productive you…

What are the THREE Fs?

You know the first one. It’s the reason for the season.

Yes, we’re all thinking about God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit this month. But I’ll bet you think about them, like I do, all through the year. It’s what keeps us steady and holding strong, right?

Then there’s the second one.

They’re the reason we live on this earth. The love we feel from celebrations like weddings, birthdays, graduations, and “just because,” are the glue that holds our tree together. Don’t cut off limbs or prune it back too much. Keep your family ties alive. They’re ultra, super important.

Do you know the third one?

You guys get me through the night. Through the day. Through the week, the month, the year. Friends like you are hard to come by. You’re my rock, my cane, my wheelchair, my walker, my railing, my phone call, my text, my email. Whatever it is YOU need, whenever you need it, there are friends who are there for you…am I right? And if you don’t have enough of them, here’s a secret: to have more friends, be a friend. Works every time.

So right now when we’re all rushing around like broken candy canes with the red stripes sucked off (that’s a weird visual, huh? – have you ever done that? I have)…anyway, when we’re all so busy, take a moment to count your blessings: Your Faith, Your Family, Your Friends. I did. Which is why I’m sending this to you.

Hugs and love, and blessings on your work.

Follow your dreams…
B.J.

What’s Going On:

#1. Christmas is what’s going on! Right around the corner, just beyond the bend, here before you know it. I’m filled with clichés and loving every minute of it all: the songs I know by heart, the tree filled with ornaments that sparkle in the night, the celebrations with loved ones.

#2 Just beyond the turn of the calendar to January 2018 will be excitement to the max. I’ll be teaching again at the Mount Hermon Christian Writers Conference and I’m super stoked to be doing a Major Morning Track on Writing Nonfiction—a series of classes that will give you tons of information to put into your writer’s toolbox. Plus I’ll be on the Critique Team where you can walk in and sit down to discuss your writing (no extra cost!). I’ll also be holding one-on-one appointments with everyone I can fit into my schedule (no extra cost!). Check out the conference and make plans to attend. Maybe ask for help with the registration fee from family as a Christmas gift? That’s what I’ve done in the past. They love to help out! www.writers.mounthermon.org.

#3. Remember that Guideposts Refresher Workshop to be held in San Francisco in mid-November? I was chosen to attend. I went, I learned, I got love and feel-good feelings to last me a long, long time. Aaaahhhh….I adore my Guideposts family!

Life is Good!

5.0 out of 5 stars I just like to write stories
By Jo Ann on September 18, 2017

Format: Paperback
“I’ve been plugging along, writing stories in my own way, with no clear idea of what I’m doing! I just like to write stories. I attended B. J.’s workshop at a recent writers’ conference, and I’m so glad I did. She gave us an overview of her method, and I got her book. This short, easy read will do for your writing what a semester in a creative writing class couldn’t do! The content, sequence, and development of a story is so thoroughly explained that I have the formula emblazoned in my mind. Her book gives many examples of stories that follow her formula and gives the reader the opportunity to take each story apart in search of each necessary ingredient in its proper order. Her formula is transforming how I write. I’m trying to complete two stories now according to the P MS to a T style. I’m hopeful that my stories will find a place in publication. Thanks, B. J., for a helpful, practical writing tool.”

5.0 out of 5 stars Informative, encouraging, fun!
By RVThereYet on August 22, 2017
Format: Kindle Edition

“I’ve recently been blessed to attend some of B.J.’s seminars, and this book is a great companion to all I learned from her! I feel as though I’m ready now to begin to craft some of my stories into inspirational submissions at different venues. Thanks, B.J., for sharing this winning formula and writing a book that is both informative and encouraging!! I’ll be keeping it handy in the years to come!”

5.0 out of 5 stars You will laugh. You will cry.
By Amanda on September 21, 2017
Format: Paperback

“A great story for dog lovers! I found myself smiling and laughing at times and then crying towards the end when the author experiences loss. It reminded me of the relationship that I have with my boy. He’s only 5 and so far is happy and healthy, but the love that I have for him is like no other. The way that she describes her relationship with her beloved “Rex” is mirror like to my baby and I. She is a descriptive writer which I absolutely love. No details or emotions are left out. It’s truly a great book. I enjoyed every page. Loved the pictures of her babies at the end too. :)”

5.0 out of 5 stars A Touching Gift for Us Readers
By Amazon Customer on August 25, 2017
Format: Paperback

“Charlie Bear is a beautiful, heartbreaking, funny & touching gift B. J. Taylor has given to us readers! I started reading it late one night and finished it the next morning. I smiled, cried, and laughed my way through it and had lots of happy and sad memories of each of my four-legged family members who gave so much and brought such joy into the days of my life over the years. And who brought great heartache and pain when it was time for each of them to go to the rainbow bridge! I could see, like a movie, Diamond, Red and Rex as B. J. Taylor talked about them and certainly also Charlie Bear and his struggles and triumphs! Each came alive with his/her own unique personality. I don’t have the right words to say how much this book touched my heart. This is a story NOT to be missed!!!”

      Julie,
Thanks for thinking of me at MH. I’m smiling, too, at the pleasure of helping all the writers in attendance to the best of my ability.
Warm hugs, and the merriest of Christmas to you, too!

      Jean,
I had completely forgotten that teaching a MM track at MH was a dream of mine. It’s been a long time coming, but God is so good to remember my heart’s desire (even when I don’t).
      Much love,
      B.J.
