Charlie Bear here. October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, the time when shelters promote adoption in full force, but I’d say they’re always promoting adoption in full force. And why wouldn’t they? Shelters are overcrowded, with many animals in need of loving homes. (The sooner all my canine friends get out of those caged environments the better. — Hey, we’re all brothers.)
There’s a woman my mom knows who does BEAUTIFUL work photographing shelter dogs. Her name is Angie Hunt. She adorns the dogs with a bit of fluff or bow tie or feather boa…whatever will make them appealing to those who come upon their photograph when looking to adopt. The name of her book is “Snapping Shelter Dogs” and you can find it here: http://amzn.to/VIJ81p Mom downloaded it and devoured the gorgeous photographs and the wealth of information Angela Hunt shares about photography, and so much more. It’s a fabulous gift book for a dog lover.
My Mom Peep says it was my picture that made her fall in love with me. This one:
Then there was this one, too:
Angie Hunt didn’t take these, my foster mom did. I have an impish little face and a compact little body to go with it. No wonder Mom and Dad Peep fell in love with me. But seriously, a lot of dogs need a bit of help and Angie does just that. Thanks, Angie, for all you do to help my brothers (and sisters too). Woofs to you!
So do any of you know a shelter dog? Share with us….inquring minds like to know!

Charlie Bear, what a wonderful idea to plug a book! So sweet of you to spread the love around. And by the way….anybody who sees you falls in love with you.
Dear Sweet Julie,
I love when you talk about how cute I am. I think you’re pretty ravishing yourself. You should see my new haircut. It really pops my eyes!

Beaugie here;
Charlie B ear, you know you have to be beautiful for you look so much like me and mom peeps says i am the most beautiful dog she’s seen lately. She wants a pure bred Pug to play with me; does anyone know where a she3lter one is at that is not so sickly? She can’t care for a sick dog as she is not in too good health herself. Hope lots of dogs find “Forever Homes” this month.
Woofs and Wiggles to you & your peeps.
Beaugie
Beaugie, you are a beautiful boy (like me!). A pure bred pug? Hmm….seems like you could find one somewhere…maybe look up pug rescue sites? Lots of time rescuers will bring a dog to a new home…even a little ways away. Doesn’t hurt to ask! Good luck, Beaugie, in finding a furever friend to play with!
Wiggles and woofs,
Charlie Bear
