TAYLOR’S TIPS for a more productive you…
Some of you might feel like this right now:
Winter is getting you down. Resolutions are blown. Happy days seem so far away.
I have the remedy. Join me at a conference. I guarantee you’ll be smiling in no time! You’ll go home with lots of great ideas, handouts, and free books. Plus much, much more.
Winter can get me down, too, even in sunny California. That’s why I plan my escapes, particularly my schedule for writers conferences. And guess what? You’re in my plans this year.
I need your help.
Have you attended any of my workshops and then went on to publish in Chicken Soup or maybe won the Guideposts contest, or published in Angels on Earth? I know some of you have done those things. Hooray!
Here’s the help I need. I’ll be teaching at the conferences listed below. If you will be there, could you please let me know? I’d love to have you talk to the class for a few minutes about your experiences. There’s nothing like hearing from those who have done it, right?
February 24th-28th Florida Christian Writers Conference (near Orlando)
Theme: Dancing on the Head of a Pin featuring Robert Benson as Keynote Speaker
www.FloridaCWC.net Wow – what a lineup of agents, editors, publishers, authors, and helpful staff
I will teach two workshops:
“Writing for the Guideposts Contest”
“Make $$$ Selling Personal Experience Stories”
And I will meet with lots of writers to talk about where you are, where you want to be, and how to get there.
March 18th – 22nd Mount Hermon Christian Writers Conference (near San Jose CA)
Theme: Be Unquenchable featuring Carol Kent as Keynote Speaker
www.writers.mounthermon.org/writers Tons of new stuff: like a jazz band at the autograph party (cool); morning mentoring small group option; new agents, book editors, even free on-the-spot manuscript critiques.
I will conduct the “Morning Nonfiction Mentoring Clinic – Personal Experience Stories and Memoir” during the main conference dates. We will meet Saturday, Sunday, and Monday mornings. Ready to deepen your skill in a small group setting? I can’t wait to help you, but sign up soon. Class is limited to six writers.
I will teach an afternoon workshop as well: “Nonfiction: Writing Personal Experience.”
April 15th-16th Orange County Christian Writers’ Conference (Fullerton CA near Disney)
Theme: Something entirely new! And we think you’re going to love it.
All-day mentoring tracks on Friday and Saturday. Get instruction specifically in the area in which you are writing: Nonfiction, Fiction, Young Adult, Teen. Take a mentoring track on one day and meet with industry professionals on the other day, or sign up for whatever you like. www.occwf.org
I will teach the Beginning Nonfiction Mentoring Track all day Friday. Two hours in the morning and three hours in the afternoon (and I promise you will not fall asleep after lunch…lol).
I will also take appointments on Saturday for one-on-one discussions about your writing and your goals.

Go after your dreams. Don’t ever stop.
Hugs and love, and blessings on your work.
Follow your dreams…
What’s Going On:
2015 was a big blob of a year for me. Lots of changes happened. Family stuff. Stories didn’t make it. Writing goals didn’t get met. Hey, it happens. (put an sh in front of that it and you’ll know how I feel…lol). Anyway, this is a new year. A fresh start. In 2014 my word for the year was TRUST. In 2015 it was COURAGE, which is a good thing because I needed lots of it during the year.
This year my word is SUCCESS. It’s time to get it together. Join me?
What’s YOUR word?

I’m so sorry 2015 was difficult, BJ. Yes, we have those. Mine was tough in many ways too. I love your word..success! I didn’t have one and a friend recently gave me one. Restored! Oh, the sweet grace in that! Here’s to success and being restored!
I love “restored.” There is definitely sweet grace in that word and love from God to us and back again.
Sorry your year was “sh_ _ _.” But success is always around the corner. My word is Grateful, and so far it is working out well for me! Angels is publishing a little story of mine, and just had one in GP. I’m submitting a story about my rescue puppy. I’ve thought of you so often after getting Daisy! You’ll have to wait until the story appears to learn all about her! 🙂
Grateful is a wonderful word! I can’t wait to read all about Daisy. What a joy she must be in your life. Congrat’s on the Angel publication and the GP as well!
Many warm hugs,
I can feel your teaching JOY coming through this! So excited for you. Wish I could be at each one sitting on the front row.
You know me well, and you know I love to teach writers the skills necessary to help them to be successful and to reach their goals. I sure do wish you were in the front row of every single class!
