EVERY DOG SHOULD HAVE A HOME….

   and

EVERY WRITER WHO ENTERS A CONTEST SHOULD WIN.

Unrealistic? Maybe a little…but a girl can believe! In fact TWO fabulous girls who entered a contest did believe and THEY WON!

CONGRATULATIONS to Lisa Bogart and Marci Seither. They entered the Guideposts Writers Workshop Contest and were just notified that they won! They’ll be whisked off to Rye, New York to stay at the Wainwright House for five days. The editors at Guideposts magazine will teach them everything they know about writing first-person inspirational stories.

Guideposts chooses only 15 people out of the thousands who enter, and they hold this contest just once every two years. This is a remarkable achievement for both Lisa and Marci, who I know worked very hard at crafting a story for the contest. They have been attendees at the Mount Hermon Christian Writers Conference and have taken numerous classes to hone their craft. I applaud their efforts, their determination, their willingness to learn. I know they will have a fabulous time in New York.

Way to go, Girls!

As for that first line: Every Dog Should Have a Home?

I believe in that too. So much so that I am devoting myself to doing what I can to help. I believe God gave me two strengths: one–I’m a writer; two–I love dogs. So I asked myself how I could blend those two strengths. And it became quite clear.

I write dog-lit (think chick-lit for dog lovers): novels that contain at least one dog in the story, sometimes  more. My first book, working title Fortune Puppy, tells the story of a young divorced woman searching for love and the capricious dog that helps her find it. Along the way this dog teaches her many things, one of which is to never give up (on him as a growing puppy, and on her quest to find true love). The second novel is about four fabulous chicks and one adorable Cocker Spaniel.

Like Marci and Lisa, I am doing what I love: writing. And I’m trying to get the word out about dog-lit. So I’ve added a new twist to what I do now….I blog. On this blog you’ll find posts about dogs along with some about dog books and writing.  The monthly email newsletter will be posted here as well. If you want to subscribe, click on the link and sign up. You can unsubscribe at any time.

Want a chance to win a free book? I’m going to give away more free books (remember the ones at the classes at Mount Hermon that I gave away? — these are more of those fabulous Chicken Soup titles). When you SUBSCRIBE to my blog you’ll get 25 points and an additional 5 points for every “comment’ you make between now and August 15th  on ANY of the posts. I’ll be giving away four free books. Be one of the top point-getters and you’ll win a book. Good luck!

Happy writing and blessings on your work.

Follow your dreams…

Well, I’m not Bill Gates (obviously since I have to do it myself) but I’m learning. It’ll be up soon. I hope.

        Musket loves your hugz.
